Watford opt out of swoop to sign Barca star Alcacer

Watford's proposed swoop to sign Barcelona forward Paco Alcacer ahead of the deadline is now over because of the terms of the deal.

It was reported this week that the 25-year-old Spain international striker was poised to move to Vicarage Road on a loan deal, with a view to a permanent transfer after Barca struggled to attract suitors after their 30million euros valuation.

However, it appears Alcacer, who has scored 15 goals in 50 appearances since joining the Blaugrana from Valencia in 2016, will not be making the move.

Reports in Spain are suggesting Watford bosses feel the figures involved in taking the player to the Premier League are not viable and the deal is 'practically' dead.

The news will be a blow to the player as he was looking for a move due to the fact his first-team chances at the Camp Nou are limited, with the majority of his game-time over the past two years coming from the substitutes' bench.
